The New York City Football Club ended the 4 day road trip with a second straight shut out, losing to Nashville SC 1-0 on a hot and muggy Tennessee evening. After falling to the LA Galaxy on Wednesday night 2-0 the club ended the week with 14 shots, yet none on goal as the team fell to 6th place in the East after their third straight loss.

“There were positives in the performance. However, this league is about executing results, and when the game is the way it was, we must develop the ability to execute a result,” Nick Cushing said in a short post game press conference, “Every time we’ve conceded on the road, we have been able to open teams up and create goal chances, and when we do, we have to take them, and if we don’t, we can’t execute results on the road.”

The third loss raises concerns with the fan base after the success of the team, despite the club’s recent run of 9 wins in the team’s 10 prior matches, as the hashtag #CushingOut has started to pop up on Reddit & Twitter (I’m still not calling it X).

Next up the team is back home on Friday night with a chance to right the ship, facing 10th place Orlando SC. NYCFC historically in 10 matches is 6-3-3 against the Florida club.

5 STATS

1) All three goals given up inside 50 minutes, with the club falling behind 1-0 going into halftime both times, with the goals given up to the Galaxy at 41′ & 49′ & Nashville at 23′.

2) In both matches NYCFC had 14 shots each, but only 4 were on goal (all against LA).

3) When NYCFC gives up the first goal, they are 2W-6L-1D. On the other hand, scoring first? 7W-2L-1D when scoring first.

4) Through 19 matches, NYCFC has 26 goals and given up 23. Last year at this time it was 20 goals scored and 25 allowed.

5) Despite the 3 game slide, per PlayoffStatus.com, NYCFC still has a 96% chance of making the postseason.
