The New York City Football Club added 15 year old Midfielder Jonathan “Jonny” Shore to a Homegrown Contract through 2027 with an additional option for 2028. Joining the NYCFC Academy at the age of 10 back in 2017, the New York local spent time with the team’s U17 Academy Team and making two appearances last season with NYCFC II in the MLS Next Pro League.
Jonny said: “It’s a huge honor for me and my family to be the next Homegrown signing for this Club. I would like to thank everyone that has played a part in helping me reach this goal, for always believing in me and supporting me throughout this journey. This is not the end but just the beginning, I will continue to work hard every day to improve and help this Club succeed in every way possible. This is a Club and City that I hold dear to my heart, being from New York I am proud to represent the greatest city in the world. It’s always been a dream of mine to play professionally and believe this organization is the best place for me to continue my development. I look forward to the day of playing in front of our fans and bringing them happiness with my play on the field.”
Director David Lee was quoted as saying, “We are delighted that Jonathan has signed his first professional contract and we are excited that he has committed to continue his football development with the Club over the coming years. With the addition of NYCFC II to our Player Pathway, Jonathan will be able to play professional games in MLS NEXT Pro competition which will continue to enhance his development.”
The 15-year-old becomes the eleventh Homegrown signing in Club history since the Academy formed in 2015.
