FireWolves Look to Clinch Home Field Advantage as They Host the Toronto Rock

Tonight the Albany FireWolves (10-5) will play host to the Toronto Rock (12-3) in a night where the Albany FireWolves will both celebrate the very first NLL team in upstate New York in the Albany Attack, but former captain Brett Manney will also have his #13 retired by the FireWolves. Tonight’s matchup has been on everyone’s calendar around the league, not only being able to watch 2 of the best teams in the National Lacrosse League but also seeing a potential playoff matchup in the near future. The FireWolves are back home at MVP Arena after dropping their last 3 games in a row, their most recent loss coming in overtime to the Calgary Roughnecks on March 22nd.

As the FireWolves look to snap their 3 game losing streak, they will look to assistant captain Ethan Walker and big time rookie scorer Alex Simmons, and while they know who they can go to on offense, the defense for the FireWolves must attempt to shut down some of the Rock’s big stars such as their leading goal scorer Corey Small, their leading point scorer in Mark Matthews, captain Challen Rogers and known FireWolves hunter in Tom Schreiber, all of this backed by goaltender Nick Rose who leads the NLL in wins. If the FireWolves’ can stick to their high offensive style game while keeping a lockdown on Schreiber and Small, then a home playoff game in late April seems inevitable.
